Evangelical Community Hospital recently teamed up with the students and staff at SUN Area Technical Institute to create a program aimed at satisfying the workforce shortage.  Evan team members from the Human Resources Department, Nutritional Services, Facilities Management, and Security visited the students at SUN Tech to discuss a new intern partnership in the skilled trades.  Students in the Electrical, HVAC, Carpentry, Cabinetmaking, Masonry, Criminal Justice, Electronics, and Culinary programs at SUN  Tech will be active participants in this program.

During the kick-off event, Evan staff shared information about the work environment, types of jobs available, how to apply, and the newly created intern program.  Students will have the opportunity to work alongside an Evan mentor in the departments mentioned above.  This program will allow students to get exposure in a hospital setting and provide real world work experience in the field.  By connecting education and industry the program hope to build a pipeline to fill community jobs with skilled workers.
