Section 00 12 00 – Advertisement for Bids
Contractors are invited to submit SEALED BIDS for the bidding of the HVAC Equipment Replacement & Renovations at SUN Area Technical Institute, located at 815 East Market Street, New Berlin, Union County, PA 17855.
BIDS ARE INVITED ON A LUMP SUM BASIS FOR THE FOLLOWING CONTRACTS:
Contract 1 - HVAC Construction
Sealed bids for the HVAC Equipment Replacement & Renovations will be received by the SUN Area Technical Institute, at the School Office, 815 East Market Street, New Berlin, Union County, PA 17855.
until 1:00 PM, on April 11, 2022. Bids will be opened and read aloud immediately thereafter. Faxed and electronically sent bids will not be accepted. No award of contracts will be made at the bid opening. Bids shall be addressed to the attention of the Business Manager, James King.
A mandatory pre-bid conference and building tour will be held. Interested bidders are to meet at the SUN Area Technical Institute, at the School Office, 815 East Market Street, New Berlin, Union County, PA 17855. on March 31, 2022 at 3:00 PM. Interested bidders shall meet at the main entrance. Additional arrangements for site visitation, other than the designated Pre-Bid Meeting, may be made by contacting Mike Spotts, Director of Facilities, 570-259-3969.
The Project Manual and Drawings for bidding purposes may be obtained by the contractors at the office of the Architect, McKissick Architecture, 317 North Front Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101; Phone 717.238.6810; Fax 717.238.6830; Email [email protected] on or after Monday, March 21, 2022. A $50.00 bid deposit is required to obtain a complete set of electronic PDF plans and specifications, made payable to McKissick Associates Architects. The full deposit, less a $25.00 handling fee, will be refundable to contractors submitting a Bona Fide bid. Paper copies of plans and specifications may be purchased from the Architect for an additional non-refundable fee of $100.00.
PREVAILING WAGE DETERMINATION: This Project is being financed in part by a GEER II Grant and an ESSER Grant administrated through the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and shall be subject to the requirements of those programs. Prospective Bidders are advised that this project shall be subject to and governed by provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act, and the Federal Davis Bacon Act. Bidders shall prepare their bid after giving consideration to the applicability of both said Prevailing Wage Acts to the work involved; the higher individual posted wage rates, per job description, shall apply.
Work shall be started on the project no later than ten (10) days after the Notice to Proceed is issued by the
Owner or on the date specified in the Notice to Proceed. The bi-polar ionization equipment located within the interior of the building, described in the scope work, shall be completed, ready for use, on or before September 30, 2022, and the remaining exterior rooftop equipment work shall have up to another 7 months for final completion to occur based on presently anticipated construction material delivery delays. The contractor’s are requested to factor limited mobilization costs while the exterior equipment is on order, while no other work is taking place.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any or all informalities, defects, errors,
omissions, mistakes or irregularities in proposals, to reject any or all proposals or parts thereof and to make
awards as may be deemed in its best interest.

SUN Area Technical Institute is accepting proposals for architectural services to create the drawings for the West Campus Electrical Systems and Mechatronics Program Workspace.
