District Winners 2015

Two hundred-fifty students from SUN Area Technical Institute, Columbia-Montour AVTS, Northumberland County Career Center, Northern Tier Career Center, Central Mountain High School, Lycoming County Career Center, North and South Schuylkill Training Centers, Wellsboro, Milton, and Williamsport High Schools recently competed in Pennsylvania District VI Skills USA Competitions held at Pennsylvania College of Technology and Northern Tier Career Center
SkillsUSA is a national student organization for students enrolled in trade, industrial, technical and health occupations educational programs. The students competed in both skill and leadership competitive events for the purpose of selecting those individuals who will advance to the state level.
First place Skill winners from SUN Area Technical Institute were: Action Skill, Jacob Jones; Collision Repair, Cody Ross; Cosmetology, Sage Steffen; Esthetics, Kathleen Bertanzetti and her model Brittany Annuli; Crime Scene, Glen Buck, Garrett Walter, and Bella Carrasco; Criminal Justice, Keaton Zarr; Diesel Technology, Garitt Aucker; Electronics, John Malick; Extemporaneous Speaking, Sean Benfer; Industrial Motor Control, Jeremy Gehers; Job Skill Demonstration A, Samantha Eisenhart and her model Chloe Boreman; Nail Care, Qwanasia Walker and her model Crystal Torres; Residential Electric Wiring, Richard Shambach Jr; Team Works, Chase Girvin, Joe Snyder, Zach Houtz, and Jordan Bailey; and Welding, Abraham Hostetler.
Second place winners from SUN Tech included: Advertising Art, Larisa Drick; Automated Manufacturing, Dan Martin. Austin Raup, and Joel Bergerstock; Automotive Refinishing, Dominic Dixon; Carpentry, Isaac Badinger; CNC Technician, Trevor Clouser; Commercial Baking, Grayce Heckman; Customer Service, Casey Hartley; HVAC, Andrew Bishop; and Masonry, Matt Tatar.
Third place winners included: Restaurant Service, Cole Rubatin and Welding Sculpture, Tyson Troutman.
Other participants from SUN Tech who competed at the district level included Derrick Toevs, Culinary Arts; Colton Newman, Plumbing; and Evan Bobb, Precision Machining.
All first place medal winners will advance to compete at the state level. The Pennsylvania SkillsUSA Leadership and Skill Conference will be held in Hershey on April 8-10, 2015.
