Logan Campbell, Welding 2010-2011

My name is Logan Campbell and I attend Shikellamy High School.  I decided to come to SUN Tech for the welding program after I visited my junior year.  I wanted to further my skills as a welder and also get a good job after I graduate.  The welding industry is in high demand of welders.

SUN Tech was the best choice to help me follow in my father’s footsteps.  We learn Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) along with soldering, brazing, blueprint reading and fabrication.  The cutting processes that we learn are CNC plasma cutting, plasma cutting, oxyfuel cutting, and carbon arc cutting (CAC).   Also, I am enrolled in a program through SUN Tech and Penn College called PCNow.  This program helps me earn college credits while still in high school.

The welding program at SUN Tech offers much more than most people realize.  We do a lot of projects for the community.  We work closely with the PA Game Commission, the Union County Veteran’s Affairs, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, just to name a few.

My plan after I graduate from the welding program is to go to Penn College to further my welding knowledge.  After I graduate from college, I plan to get a good paying job working for a gas company on the Marcellus Shale.   I know the skills that I am learning at SUN Tech and will learn in college will help me become an elite welder.
